Requirements
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Health and Social Care
- Care Certificate or willingness to complete during induction
- Basic IT proficiency
- Interpersonal and communication skills to interact with healthcare staff and patients effectively
- Ability to handle potentially challenging interactions with patients
- Team-oriented yet capable of working independently
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferred but not essential
Salary Details
Starting salary is set at £23,615 annually, following the NHS Agenda for Change Band 2 pay scale. This includes additional shift pay for various work hours, ensuring fair compensation for different shifts.
About the Role
The Health Care Assistant at East Riding Community Hospital plays a key role in the Intermediate Care Team. Working within a community-bedded unit, they will support patients needing level 4 rehabilitation, stroke recovery, and palliative care. The post holder will be responsible for providing personal care and encouraging rehabilitation to enable patients’ independence and safe discharge. The Intermediate Care service operates across Hull and East Riding, catering to patients either in a community bedded unit or in their own homes. This position is ideal for those passionate about patient-centered care and rehabilitation.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with personal care and rehabilitation activities
- Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals to support patient rehabilitation
- Provide care for patients requiring end-of-life support
- Support patients with complex health needs for safe community discharge
- Monitor and report on patient conditions to ensure effective care plans
This role requires availability for a range of shifts, including night and weekend shifts, to maintain 24/7 coverage.
